Escape games that turn evenings at the library into real page-turners.

You can get lost in a good book. You can get completely lost at a Locked Library.

Locked Library is Jetpack’s ongoing series of massive escape games that have challenged players — as many as 1300 playing simultaneously — to solve an elaborate series of puzzles before time runs out.

Jetpack produces every aspect of the games in-house — from the puzzles and print materials, to the voiceovers, videos, and animation. We’ve made the games available to license by libraries for community and fundraising events.

If you run a town or city library and you’re interesting in licensing a Locked Library game for your fundraising event, we’d love to hear from you!

Locked Library: Chopping Block

Two hours. That's how long you have to finish a cookbook-themed evening of puzzle solving that satisfies on every level. You can take your time with the game and let the fun simmer, or turn up the heat for a chance to win a giant trophy. This is a brand new edition of our Locked Library series that will debut in Calgary on February 23, 2024, with proceeds supporting the Calgary Public Library Foundation. Tickets are on sale now.

Once upon a time, in a city library…

During the first season of our original game series, Treasure League — we hid a small treasure chest for our players to find, behind some timeworn sci-fi novels on the 4th floor of Calgary’s old central library.

Mid-month, we learned that not only was a team from the library playing our game, they were meeting to solve our clues in a room just 30 feet from the hidden chest.

Shortly after that round ended, the library foundation’s CEO invited us for coffee. We thought we were getting our library card’s torn in half. We met him at Calgary’s Beltliner diner anyway.

He asked if we thought an open world game like Treasure League could be adapted to be played inside a library. We thought it could — and a month later, we presented our new game — Locked Library — in a format that they could host as part of their Library After Dark event series.

Not too long after Locked Library debuted, someone from the Calgary Zoo emailed us to say they’d played, and asked if we thought we could build something that could be played outside, at a zoo…

Since then, Locked Library games have been hosted by several libraries — and our third game series Locked Zoo is being played at city zoos across North America.
